The photo changes with the hour on the hill

Dawn comes from the sea. Night comes from the village. Between the two, your balcony.

Fourteen suites with balconies on a cocoa hill above the village of Itacaré, Bahia, 1.8 km from Concha beach. The forest around, the sea in front.

Go down for the beach. Come up for the breeze.

The forest keeps the beaches.
The height shows them all.

Down there, Itacaré shows itself one beach at a time. From here, the whole drawing: the Contas River entering the sea, the boats passing between the two, the village in the middle and the forest closing the frame.

Nine thousand square metres. Fourteen doors. This was the main house of a cocoa farm, and the land stayed whole: a garden, a kitchen garden, the stone lane, a lounge open to the forest. A lot of ground for few people.

Fourteen suites, four hours of the day.

The names come from cocoa, from the seed to the bar. Queen size bed in every one.

Nibs

Live fire and the fish of the day, at the highest point of the hotel

The sun sets across the bay. The table stays on this side. Live fire, the fish of the day and vegetables from the garden, at a few tables, open to non-guests too.

Come for the aperitivo, with the sun still on the water. Dinner begins when the village lights up.

The same view, with your feet in the water.

A long lane of stone, and the sound of the spouts over the sound of the village. The wooden bar sits at the edge. The sea sits in front.

Cocoa grows in the shade of the forest. The hotel grew in the shade of the cocoa.

This hill was a farm, on a coast named after the fruit. Cocoa is planted under the Atlantic Forest, which is why the forest is still standing all around.

Cocoa names the suites and comes into the Nibs kitchen: in the fruit and the roasted beans at breakfast, and in a dessert at night.

Ripe cocoa pods lined up, filling the frame

The dirt road ends at the gate. The view begins there.

Reception answers on WhatsApp, every day. From Ilhéus airport it is seventy kilometres of road, and the transfer is arranged with the booking. The map leaves you at the top of the dirt road. Follow it to the end.
